Gear Tip: Thunderbolt CF Card Reader!

As any DSLR video shooter knows, you can chew up gigabytes by the card-full on a shoot.  There is nohing I hate worse than getting stuck back at my office or hotel having to copy 100GB of footage to my laptop or iMac through a standard USB card reader.   However, just found a way to use my Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt adaptor to read my CF cards.

1) Buy a Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt adaptor to use with your Seagate GoFlex drive.  Seagate recently had a clearance sale on their site, and I picked up a 750GB drive for $55.  The Thunderbolt Adaptor is $50 from Seagate direct.

2) I bought a Syba Best Connectivity 2.5" SATA/USB 2.0 to Compact Flash Adapter from Amazon for $17.

3 The CF card slides easily into the Syba adaptor, and the Syba adaptor slides easily (upside down) into the Thunderbolt adaptor.

Copied files with blazing speed!
